Alexandra Obochi is a 24-year-old self-taught photographer and creative director based in Abuja, Nigeria. She identifies as queer and uses she/her pronouns. As a photographer, Alexandra is passionate about capturing the beauty of dark skin, queer souls, and Afrocentric ideals. She hails from Enugu State, located in the southeastern part of Nigeria, and is the first child of her parents.
Alexandra's artistic practice is greatly inspired by her life experiences, including her environment, the food she eats, the clothes she wears, the places she has been to, and the people she meets. Her photography has helped her to unlock deeper parts of herself and better understand herself.
Through her art, Alexandra finds solace from the challenges of living in a violent, homophobic country. Photography helps her forget her worries, depression, and anxiety, and keeps her going with its excitement. To Alexandra, her art is everything.
